Artist Profile: Mark Weber
Mark Weber’s career as an illustrator has been long and varied. A prolific doodler, his work continues to flourish in the mediums of advertising, editorial, children's books and the ever expanding web. Mark has created work for a diverse group of clientele over the years including: The New York Times, Rolling Stone, American Eagle Outfitters, Saucony Shoes, The Wall Street Journal, Playboy, Penguin Putnam, The Village Voice and many, many more. He is a regular contributor to the LA Times Syndicate who distributes his witty illustrations throughout the world. From 2003 to 2006 he was a weekly contributor to the Paris based newspaper, "The International Herald Tribune" where he created images for their weekly "End User" column. Children's books include "The Pirate Princess" in 2005 and "Little Toot & the Lighthouse" which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the original children's classic "Little Toot" by Hardy Gramatky. According to Mark, "I am not really interested in being a one-trick-pony type of illustrator. I like to experiment way too much and there are so many mediums and approaches to explore, which I want to try my hand at. I strive to approach every job with a little humor and an angle which will make an impression on the viewer." Mark and his family recently relocated to the port city of Wilmington, North Carolina where he illustrates by day, paints and plays music by night, and tries to get to the beach as often as possible. -
