Artist Profile: Will Terry
Will Terry grew up just outside the beltway of Washington, D.C., where he enjoyed scouting, sports, and playing cello in his HS orchestra. He studied illustration at BYU, developing his interests and skills in drawing and painting. In 1992, he moved to Maryland in search of freelance assignments and within 3 months was working full-time as an illustrator. His work has appeared in national advertisements for Sprint, Pizza Hut, M&M Mars, Fed Ex, Master Card, Citibank and in Time, Money, Wall Street Journal, Mac World, Arizona Highways, Seventeen and Better Homes and Gardens. His work has also been accepted into The Society of Illustrators. Will also had a life long dream to illustrate children’s books and he has illustrated 17 of them and counting. Armadilly Chili, written by Helen Ketteman, is in its second printing and has been chosen for the Texas 2x2 Reading List, the North Carolina Children’s Book Award, and the Arizona Young Readers Choice Award. Will is currently working on 4 books for various publishers - Albert Whitman, Simon & Schuster, and Random House. He teaches illustration part time at UVSC and enjoys snowboarding with his three sons and a warm fire with his wife. -
