Artist Profile: Nikolai Punin

Nikolai was born in Alma - Ata, Russia. He went to Moscow State University and majored in mathematics. After earning his degree he went to Helsinki to study graphic design. Nikolai spent 7 years in Helsinki working in advertising agencies as an art director and illustrator. He moved to New York in 1987 and began a successful career as a freelance illustrator. His many clients include Citibank, DuPont, Hewlett-Packard, BusinessWeek, UCLA School of Law, The New York Times and New York Magazine.
