Artist Profile: George Schill
George Schill's illustration career began years ago while attending a Catholic grade school where he sold drawings of "Weirdos" to classmates for a nickel. Unfortunately, his business venture soon ended after Sister Mary Anthony called his mother and expressed concern that her son was spending much of his free time drawing the devil. Today, George works out his home in Pittsburgh, PA and still earns his lunch money by drawing weirdos and other stuff for a wide variety of national and international clients. Along the way, his work has garnered a number of awards and has been recognized by the NY Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, Print's Regional Design Annuals and the Addy's. George is a contract artist and writer with American Greetings where he enjoys the freedom to work his range of styles. Art directors have found his soft, painterly technique and his ability to reduce the abstract into the simplest visual form to be the perfect solution for their corporate branding, advertising and editorial assignments. -
