Artist Profile: Planet Bubble Head
Planet Bubble-Head is Lisa Zador’s latest creation conceived and executed exclusively for Stock Illustration Source. These colorful illustrations are a lighthearted look at today’s issues, rendered in a simple style that remains true to Lisa’s love of all things retro. All her images are painted in gouache on paper and not computer generated, which gives them a more tactile and vintage look. Lisa is an award-winning artist and illustrator based in New York. She specializes in images that have a nostalgic look, reflecting her love of bygone advertising and illustration. Her work has been published through many companies, including Graphique de France and Artville/Getty, and has appeared in publications such as Harper’s magazine. In 2002, Stewart, Tabori & Chang published two books of her animal paintings, The Well-Bred Dog and The Well-Bred Cat, as well as two sets of her whimsical, 1950s-inspired note cards: “Babalu” and “Swingin’.” One of Lisa’s favorite clients is Publix Super Markets, which commissioned her to create five illustrations for its “private label” line of tea. (The packaging campaign won a 2008 ADDY Award.) In the fall of 2009, the supermarket chain introduced its Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream, which also featured Lisa’s original illustrations.
